A FUNERAL service for a great-grandfather who died after he fell in the street will be held next week.
Retired steelworker Albert Jones, 77, suffered injuries to his face when he fell on Englefield Avenue, Connah’s Quay, earlier this month, but was also battling cancer at the time.
He died at Wrexham Maelor Hospital on January 19.
Mr Jones, who is survived by wife Hazel, 73, daughter Karen, 52, and sons Carl, 51, and Andrew, 49, will be bid farewell on Tuesday, February 5 at St Mark’s Church in Connah’s Quay at 10.30am followed by a burial at Connah’s Quay Cemetery.
Donations in his memory will be made to Hope House Children’s Hospices.
A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Jones’ provisional cause of death was a bleed on the brain, due to a fall. Coroner for North Wales East and Central, John Gittins, said his cancer would also have contributed to his death.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed.
