A STUDENT has been banned from driving after moving his car while over the alcohol limit on Christmas Eve.
Rafal Heller, 38, admitted driving above the limit on St Giles Way, Wrexham, in the early hours.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said Heller, of College Street, Wrexham, was seen on CCTV driving his Peugeot 206 erratically. He came to a stop and sat in the vehicle, seemingly disorientated, before getting out, inspecting the front tyre and walking away unsteadily.
When arrested he apologised to officers and was found to be twice the limit to drive with 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35.
Heller, representing himself, said he was worried about leaving his car where it was and was moving it to make room for another vehicle.
But when he started to move it he said there was a problem with the front wheel.
Wrexham magistrates banned Heller for a year, a period to be reduced by three months if a drink driving awareness course is completed.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
