Nathan Cambridge

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 20-year-old from Wrexham who died suddenly.

Nathan Cambridge, of Acton, died at Wrexham Maelor Hospital from a clot on the lung which had travelled from his leg.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned by John Gittins, acting coroner for North East Wales, and Nathan’s funeral will be held later this week.

It is understood wrestling enthusiast Nathan,  who is survived by his father Jason and sister Samantha, spent at least a week at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, but his death on October 1 was sudden.

A post-mortem examination by pathologist Dr Anthony Howell Burdge revealed he died from a pulmonary embolus – or clot on the lung – which had travelled from his right leg.

More tests are to be conducted before the inquest resumes.

Nathan’s funeral is to be held on Friday at St John’s Church, Rhosnesni, at 2pm followed by a burial at Wrexham Cemetery on Ruabon Road. Donations in his memory will be made to Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham.

Meanwhile, dozens of tributes have been paid to Nathan via his Facebook page.

‘Helen Loney’ wrote: “Such sad news. He loved his electric guitar. RIP Nathan and God bless.”

‘Nia Jones’ said: “I’ll never forget band practice every Friday in school and playing (computer game) “Call of Duty” until stupid o’clock in the morning. You were such a top lad. I'm really going to miss you mate.”

‘Billy Humphreys’ said: “If the world was mine to give I would give it and more, just to see the face of Nathan knocking at my front door.

“I would do anything to see your face again.”

‘Ian Irmscher O’Keefe‘ wrote: “Take care mate and I will see you one day if I’m lucky enough.”

And ‘Naomiee Williams’ said: “God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. Sleep tight.”

Nathan was a former pupil of St Christopher’s School, Wrexham. Headteacher Maxine Pittaway said: “It’s a real shock, it was really unexpected.

“He was doing so well. He left us to go to Yale and suddenly he was really unwell.
“He was an absolutely lovely young man, he loved his music and he played the guitar very well.

“His father was extremely supportive of the school while he was here.

“I have fond memories of him and his father putting up a grotto at Christmas for the younger children.

“He had a lot of friends among both the staff and pupils while here. It’s a sad loss to the school, and my sympathies go out to his family.”

Acton councillor Geoff Lowe called his death “a shock and a tragedy”.

He said: “To lose somebody in the prime of their life is just awful.

“I met Nathan on one occasion and he seemed a very decent young man.

“It’s a loss not just for his family but for the whole community.”

Former Wrexham Council leader councillor Ron Davies, a member of Acton Community Council, added: “It’s extremely sad news and I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the family.

“It is tragic for this to happen to anyone of any age, but particularly for someone who is just 20 years old.”

I'm so sorry to hear of Nathan's sudden passing and my thoughts go out to his father and sister. I lost my daughter Claire to a clot on her lung she was aged 22 years old and it had travelled up from her leg. This I a silent killer and more awareness of the symptoms need to be known charity Lifeblood does thus ANC has helped me the last 2 years to understand how this could of happened to someone so young. One again my thoughts go out to Nathan's family and friends xx
