OUTDATED speed humps could soon be replaced by a modern alternative.
New Brighton Road and Pen y Bryn in Sychdyn, near Mold, were among the first areas in Flintshire to have ramps introduced more than 15 years ago.
A traffic review could now see the humps replaced by less invasive safety measures and if they prove popular they could be rolled out across the county.
Northop councillor Marion Bateman welcomed the review and said the old humps had caused damage to cars and buildings.
She said: “They were one of the first type of speed humps. They have caused so much damage over the years, to cars and to buildings because of the vibrations.
“Two buildings on New Brighton Road have suffered tremor disruption.
“It was one of the first schemes in the county.
“The new ones are going to be less invasive, they are going to be far more vehicle friendly and less noisey.”
Cllr Bateman said the plans will be going out for public consultation and she would pass on all information to residents.
A spokesman for Flintshire Council said: “We are proposing to review the existing traffic calming measures installed in Sychdyn a number of years ago.
“This study will consider the current installation and any measures that we may reasonably adopt in relation to the existing humps together with consideration of any modern materials/ installations used elsewhere in the UK.
“Should the study prove to be positive we would propose to use this as a pilot area, subject to consultation with the local community, and as such it may be something we would wish to consider positively for future and existing schemes."
