FOCUS Wales 2018 got off to a successful start with hundreds of bands and thousands of music fans descending on Wrexham for this year's festival.

The annual event takes place in Wrexham each Spring, with the aim of placing the music industry spotlight firmly on the emerging talent that Wales has to offer the world. This year marks the festival’s 8th edition, with organisers expecting over 8,000 people to visit the town, building upon 2017′s record attendance across a jam-packed weekend of events.

Yesterday's act included former Jeff Buckley and Captain Beefheart collaborator Gary Lucas, legendary CAN frontman Damo Suzuki and electro-psych songstress Jane Weaver who wowed a crowd at Wrexham's St Giles Church,

Andy Jones, Festival Co-Founder, said: "The opening day of the festival was a huge success, with all of our shows reaching full capacity across our multiple venues around the town, and lots of happy festival goers.

"We're really looking forward to the rest of the event now, with thousands more festival goers set to descend upon Wrexham over Friday and Saturday"

FOCUS Wales 2018 takes place from 10-12 May across multiple venues in Wrexham.

Full three-day wristbands for admission to all Focus Wales events are available from The Leader office.
