A new live music festival is coming to the heart of Mold this summer.

M-Fest will take place on Kendrick's Field on Saturday, July 7 and has been organised by the Mold Carnival Committee, a small group of passionate and professional volunteers who pride themselves on delivering fantastic events.

The festival will feature live music from the likes of The Immediate (The Bird Chronicle) who are fronted by BBC Wales radio presenter Adam Walton and indie-pop foursome Kidsmoke whose song 'Take Me to the River' was featured in Season 4 of Charlie Brooker's television series 'Black Mirror'.

Jane Evans, one of the organisers said the event was being held, in part to help fund the free carnival which takes place on the field the next day (Sunday July 8) with the aim of ensuring that it remains as it is.

She said: "Funding is getting harder and harder to come by these days and we thought by holding a festival in the summer, it would not only provide Mold with a great new event, but allow us to maintain the current carnival format, which I think is important."

"M-Fest is basically our chance to have an affordable summer festival in Mold, targeted primarily at adults, and we hope the people of the town come out and support it."

Other bands on the bill include indie rock band Chasing Shadows, 9-piece ska band Skariad and popular cover bands 50Hertz and Hawker with DJ's providing the beats between each set.

Jane added: "We also have some acoustic music lined up to start the event which I think will allow people to get themselves a drink and settle in with a relaxed vibe."

The local Hafod Brewery will be providing ales and ciders and working alongside another local company, Raar Bars.

Jane said: "The bars will be serving an impressive selection of lagers, ciders, wines, Pimms and hopefully a few cheeky gins along with plenty of soft drinks for those who don't partake in a tipple or two."

With food outlets and festival stores also on site, the day promises to be the perfect summer-time "festival in a day" experience and Jane would like to invite any other local sponsors to become involved.

She said: "There are sponsorship opportunities still available and I would love businesses in the area to contact us and become a part of what I'm sure will be a brilliant and affordable event."

Advance tickets for M-Fest are available for just £10 (£15 on the day) and can be purchased online (plus booking fee) or from several ticket outlets in Mold including the Town Hall, Mold Alehouse, KMA Tool Hire, Bargain Booze and Costa Coffee.

There will be an added incentive for those attending Live on the Square in Mold this Sunday, May 6, with a special offer to buy a ticket for M-Fest for just £7.
