A REALITY TV star is to make his panto debut at a Wrexham theatre.

Love Island turned Celebrity Big Brother contestant Jonny Mitchell will make his panto debut playing the lead role in Wrexham’s annual festive pantomime.

Jonny, who rose to fame in the Love Island villa last summer, has been confirmed as the headline star in Jack and the Beanstalk, which is being performed at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhos, in December.

Fresh from a stint on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, Jonny says he is excited to make his panto debut in Wrexham, playing hapless but loveable hero Jack.

He said: “I’m buzzing to be making my panto debut, especially as I’ll be performing in beautiful North Wales.

“Pantomime and performing as a whole is all completely new to me, it’s something a little out of my comfort zone but I’m looking forward to putting my all into it and learning the ropes.

“Panto is all about fun and making people laugh, so I’m delighted that I’ll be a part of that.”

Jack and the Beanstalk tells the story of Jack, who swaps the family cow for a bag of beans.

With a beanstalk reaching the heavens, golden geese and hungry giants, this show will be one that is too big to miss.

This will be the ninth year Liverpool-based LHK Productions have produced the much-loved Christmas pantomime at the Stiwt Theatre.

Lee Kelly, managing director of LHK Productions, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have cast Jonny in this year’s Wrexham pantomime.

"Jonny’s well known to many for his time in the Love Island villa and Big Brother house, so it’ll be good to see him give the Stiwt Theatre stage a go in panto.

“Our Wrexham pantomime has an extremely strong reputation, every year we put on a magical show and every year it gets bigger and better, and this year will be no exception.”

Jack and the Beanstalk will be at the Stiwt Theatre from December 8 to 31, with matinee and evening performances.

Tickets for the pantomime are now on sale, and can be purchased via www.stiwt.com/cy/whats-on/-jack-and-the-beanstalk or by telephoning the Stiwt's box office on 01978 841300.
