MECHANICS from Buckley are gearing up to support a bike event in aid of a hospice.

The Nightingale House Hospice annual Ride Out event will start at Llangollen Pavilion on Sunday, May 6.

Riders will take in a lunch stop at the Llyn Brenig visitors centre before heading back to finish the ride at the Ponderosa Cafe on the Horseshoe Pass.

Hospice supporters Buckley Tyre Service are one of the Ride Out sponsors and mechanics are gearing up for an event which could attract up to 500 riders.

John Sparks, of Buckley Tyre Service, said: “We are so pleased to be able to support the Ride Out as the Hospice offers such fantastic support to the people of our community who are terminally ill.

“I always pop change into one their collection tins when I see one, because I know how much money they need to keep going.

“Buckley Tyres have supported the hospice in many ways, but this is the first time we have sponsored an event.

“When we were asked to help promote the ride out, we wanted to go one step further and help pay for the costs of the running of it.”

Hospice area fundraiser Sam Eastwood said: “It was wonderful to hear that Buckley Tyres wanted to help us by sponsoring the event, as this means that all of the registration money will go directly back into patient care at the Hospice.

“It is a perfect match, as we are expecting around 500 motorbikes to join us on the May bank holiday, where they will be able to spend an afternoon mingling with other bikers.

“It is an event that is growing bigger each year and it’s always wonderful when local companies want to get involved with us in some way.”

People interested in taking part in the event can register online by visiting either the hospice website or Facebook, or by calling 01978 314292.

Entry costs £10 which includes lunch, a commemorative pin badge and raffle ticket.

The motorbike Ride Out will start at 10am with registration from 8.30am.
