ASPIRING singers will have a chance to audition for a major TV talent competition.

Mold Carnival has announced that it has been approached by ITV's The Voice UK to help host first stage auditions for the programme on Tuesday, April 24 at Theatr Clwyd.

In a promotion, organisers of the TV show have said they are on the lookout for incredible singing solo artists, duos and trios for The Voice 2019.

Auditions for the show will be held from 3pm through to 6.30pm and applicants have been asked to bear in mind that depending on number of auditionees, times may change.

Jane Evans, Mold Carnival committee member, told the Leader: "I think they found out about the amazing talent we have at the carnival and the local talent events.

"It is brilliant news and we have some incredible talent here. Theatr Clwyd have also been great and they have really supported us."

She added Mold Carnival's own talent show 'Time to Shine' is also to take place, with auditions to begin in June and the final to take place on the Carnival day itself - July 8.

The carnival committee is also organising a music festival with the Live on The Square committee called M-Fest, which will take place a day before the town's carnival on July 7 at Kendrick's Field.

Jane added: "M-Fest will be a great day for music lovers and proceeds will be put towards the carnival."

Anyone wishing to audition for ITV's The Voice can email moldcarnival@gmail.com with their name, contact information and age.

All musical styles are welcome and entrants must prepare a song acapella or with a backing track, which must be provided on an electronic device.

To be eligible to audition entrants have to be 16 years or older by October 1, 2018.
