PUNK icon John Lydon will be bringing his band Pil to Wrexham this summer.

To celebrate their 40th Anniversary, PiL have announced The Public Image is Rotten: UK/Europe and Japan Tour, kicking off in Bristol on May 30 and arriving at Wrexham's William Aston Hall on Sunday, June 24.

The former Sex Pistols frontman, also known by his stage name Johnny Rotten, has been a prominent figure in British popular culture for four decades, with Q Magazine remarking that "somehow he's assumed the status of national treasure". In 2002, he was named among the 100 Greatest Britons following a UK-wide vote.

Further PiL activity includes the release of a career–spanning box set and a documentary of the same name, the latter of which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and then had its European premiere at London’s Raindance Festival in 2017. Directed by Tabbert Fiiller, it will be released later this year in select cinemas.

A ticket pre-sale starts on Friday, February 23 at 11am with general sale following on Monday, February 26 at 11am. See www.pilofficial.com for links on Friday at 11am or www.glyndwr.ac.uk on Monday.
