Theatr Clwyd in Mold will provide a whole host of fun for families from July 28-30.

Three action-packed days of shows, storytelling, face art, music, dance, cinema and crafts will feature in the Family Arts Festival, with something for everyone from babies to grandparents.

There will be some circus skills in The Hogwallops, a show with performances throughout the weekend for everyone aged five and upwards. It combines physical comedy, theatrical storytelling and slapstick in a chaotic and colourful tale of a family of misfits.

Another unmissable highlight on Saturday and Sunday is the award-winning Children Are Stinky, which promises three to 12-year-olds gripping stunts, daredevil thrills, acrobatics, mischief and laughs.

Dance company Rambert’s Grandparents’ Workshop, for the over 60s, is on Friday, July 28 which is inspired by the company’s journey over the past 90 years.

A suitcase full of historical photos from Marie Rambert’s personal possessions, music and original props from the company’s repertoire will lead participants on a journey of exploration through the company’s history.

No dance experience is necessary.

Rambert’s Family Workshop takes the same story for an intergenerational creative experience for children of all ages and their families.

The Hogwallops will also have a signed performance at 11am on Saturday and on the same day Children Are Stinky is signed at the 12.30pm performance.

On Friday, July 28, attendees can step inside a magical white tent for Small Worlds to hear five interconnected stories for five to 11-year-olds.

Also on the Friday, Grass will be performed. It is a quirky dance show for youngsters aged between two and four and their families where they can explore the ground and all of its wriggling inhabitants.

On Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, Head in the Clouds will be performed which is a multi-sensory show for babies and infants up to four-years-old.

The Family Arts Weekend features two outdoor shows on Saturday and Sunday. Flying The Nest is for ages four to 10 to sit in a giant nest and get involved in an interactive ‘eggsperience’.

How Time Flies invites three to 11-year-olds to join a team of archaeologists and help them uncover the hidden truth behind an ancient skeleton, with puppetry and storytelling.

The Creative Hub is open every day during the weekend for a drop-in arts experience for all ages, featuring crafts, movement and drama workshops to stimulate creativity in a fun and relaxed environment.

For the over 12s, Celebration is an exciting live experimental performance packed with energy and playfulness.

There will be music in the main bar ranging from Welsh National Opera to rap and beatboxing from Mr Phormula.

Serveral Welsh language sessions will feature each day.

Family films are also screened throughout the weekend.

Theatr Clwyd’s Gwennan Mair Jones said “We’re throwing our doors wide open to welcome the whole family for three days of celebrations featuring brilliant shows, music, workshops, storytelling and cinema.

“It’s a weekend packed with fun events in Welsh and English, with lots of opportunities to participate. Come up the hill to start your summer with a bang.”

The weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon, July 30, with an acoustic set by Welsh performer Alys Williams and Osian Williams from the Welsh indie rock band Candelas.
