Nestled on the corner of Mount Street, the Nag’s Head is just a light canter away for High Street shoppers or workers looking for a quick bite to eat in their lunch break.

On a warm spring afternoon, I ventured out to see what this popular venue had to offer.

The customers were a pretty broad mix and all seemed to be having a good time.

The pub has a traditional and welcoming atmosphere, and while it was a fairly busy lunch time, there was plenty of seating available.

Diners will find a varied menu to choose from, ranging from full meals to light snacks.

The wide selection of burgers caught my eye, and I opted for the Double Whammy and settled down with a large Pepsi to wait for my meal to arrive

The burger took a fair while to get to my table, but it was obvious when it arrived that a great deal of work had gone into its preparation.

I tucked into a well prepared burger with crispy bacon, oodles of Monterey Jack cheese, two chicken goujons and some onion rings - coupled with a side of coleslaw and a sprinkling of chips.

The wait aside, I was more than pleased with my choice of lunch.

I treated myself to dessert and opted for the trusty option of chocolate fudge cake with custard - and a treat it definitely was.

There was quite an array of sundaes and other desserts available, and I would definitely return to try them out.

This was my first taste of the food on offer at the Nag’s Head, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good value pub grub served by friendly, professional staff.
