Children got into the party spirit as they celebrated the royal wedding in school.

Pupils from Rhos Helyg Primary School, in Mold, held a street party in their school hall to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Children dressed up in their party outfits and enjoyed party food for their lunch, which was served by the kitchen staff who also dressed up and wore face masks representing the royals.

Gareth Roberts, headteacher, said: “All of the children loved it and they were very excited.

“They love doing different things anyway and they had the opportunity to dress up and have party food such as cake and sandwiches which was different.

“All the tables were decorated, and it was a nice presentation with a nice party atmosphere.”

Sandra Thomas, chef at the school, came up with the idea as she wanted to do something to celebrate the royal wedding.

The headteacher added: “Some of the staff wore gowns and it was a good idea. Sandra is a royalist and she was very keen for us to do something to celebrate the occasion and the children were up for it, everyone had a really good time.”
