North Wales Police and the Flint Coastguard were called to the Flintshire Bridge in Connah's Quay shortly after 8am today following reports of a man seen acting suspiciously on the bridge.

A spokesperson for the Flint Coastguard said that upon arrival, the man was nowhere to be seen suggesting the possibility that he may have jumped off the bridge.

The Flint lifeboat was launched and conducted a search underneath the bridge and 300m either side of it.

A police helicopter based in Barton in Manchester was also called to assist with the search but nothing was found and the search was called off.

Anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area at that time should call North Wales Police on 101 with reference number U003882.
