LILI JONES could not hide her delight after claiming a major accolade during Wrexham’s end-of-season awards.

Jones’ displays over the course of the Adran Premier League season were recognised as she picked up the women’s young player of the season accolade.

The Reds ended their first season back in the top flight with a third-placed finish and midfielder Jones was a key component of their success.

On picking up the award, she told the club’s YouTube channel: “Honestly, it’s incredible.

“To be voted by the fans as well is something that I’m really proud of. So, it’s great.

“I’m so proud. I’ve had such an amazing time here at Wrexham.

“A lot of winning so, you know, to lose a few games has been odd for us this season, but I’m loving it and I’m learning every minute as well, so I can’t wait to continue with the club.”

One of the highlights of the season was Jones finding the net from fully 40 yards in the meeting with Swansea City at The Racecourse.

“It’s a dream! Honestly, it really is a dream and I’ve got no words, really,” she added.

“Hopefully it will sink in over the next few days, but I’m really, really happy and really proud to be recognised for that.”
