JOSH WILLIAMS was left to reflect on his “best moment in football” after firing Connah’s Quay Nomads to Welsh Cup glory. Williams’ stunning volley was the key strike as Nomads stunned treble-chasing The New Saints 2-1 in Sunday’s showpiece final at Newport’s Rodney Parade.

Speaking to S4C’s Sgorio after the final whistle, Williams said: “This is the best moment in football I’ve ever had.

“Hopefully, many more to come, but this is going to be up there I think, definitely.”

On the stunning goal itself, Williams added: “I’ve just jumped up and I mistimed the jump, so I just thought I’m going to give it a good swing and thankfully it’s gone in, so buzzing.”

For boss Neil Gibson, the triumph came 11 years after he led Prestatyn Town to victory in the Welsh Cup final.

“I think Prestatyn will always be special for what it was and what it means to me, but this group of players and staff, they go to the well for each other and they stick together all the way through everything,” he said. “So, so pleased that they’re going to get what they deserve and that’s sitting with the Welsh Cup trophy.”
