THERE have been three further reasons for Elliott Reeves to be cheerful.

Following on from grabbing more than 30 goals during Flint Town United’s Cymru North promotion-winning campaign, Reeves scooped a trio or prizes at the club’s end-of-season awards.

Obviously, he picked up the top goalscorer accolade, while he was also the winner of the players’ player of the season award.

Reeves’ displays through the campaign were also appreciated by fans and he was awarded with the supporters’ player of the season prize.

Wing-back Jake Phillips, who supplied a team best seven assists during the memorable campaign, walked away with two awards.

He was named as chairman’s player of the season and the committee player of the year.

Ben Hughes secured the Kev Loftus young player of the season nod and Silkmen boss Lee Fowler picked Sol Forde as his manager’s player of the season.

A runners-up finish in Cymru North was enough for Flint to secure a swift return to the Cymru Premier League, 12 months on from suffering relegation from the top flight.

Flint chairman Darryl Williams paid tribute to Fowler and his players in gaining promotion back to the Cymru Premier League at the first attempt.

“We shouldn’t have gone down last season but we’ve bounced right back and Lee Fowler deserves a lot of credit for doing that - as do the players,” said Williams.

“We can now look forward to next season in the top flight.”

Flint will meet up again with arch rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads, who rent their Essity Stadium ground, next season.

Nomads’ manager Neil Gibson, whose side lifted the Welsh Cup on Sunday night after a brilliant 2-1 win denied The New Saints a domestic treble, praised the playing surface at The Essity Stadium with the former Flint boss admitting: “When the new pitch was being laid, Darryl said it would be the best pitch in Wales and he’s been proved right.”
